The Sims 3: Karma Chameleon

Screw with your Sims in a brand new way.

Way, way, way back in June, IGN brought you your first look at The Sims 3 Console and mentioned these crazy little things called Karma Powers – acts that you get to call in to reward or punish your characters. We saw a couple of the powers in action, but there was no word on how many there'd be or what exactly they'd do.

That changes today.

Yes, EA has given us the full list of Karam Powers along with descriptions, videos and screens. However, before you scope out how you're going to love and torture your characters, let's give you a refresher course on how you're going to earn these lifer-altering spells.

On consoles, The Sims 3 offers Challenges, a series of specific tasks for your Sim such as making a friend or scoring with a significant other. When you pull these off, you can choose a Karma Power from the Challenge store. On top of those points, you're also accruing Karma Points by polishing off Opportunities, which are mini-quests for your characters. Cash 'em in, and you get to cause events you'd usually have to wait for – fires, love, etc. You can make everyone happy or ruin their lives in an instant. Use your powers wisely, and you'll be rewarded at the Hour of Reckoning, which goes down at midnight every night. Use them to be a world-class jerk, and you might not want to look forward to the midnight hour.

So just what are these powers? Well, we're glad you asked…

THE GOOD

Divine Intervention
Lose a Sim to death and want to bring back his or her ghost? Now, you can.

Get Lucky
Give your Sim a higher chance of succeeding with socials, woohoo, raises, promotions, fishing and more.

Good Times
Remove all bad "moodlets" from an entire household and good times are sure to be had.

Instant Beauty
A chance to fix those physical features that just aren't quite right. And then fix them again and again and again. This opens Create a Sim so you can edit facial and body features.

Super Satisfy
Immediately fulfills all of your Sims' needs. Your Sim feels completely invigorated and is ready to face the future with newfound hope.

Giant Jackpot
Shower your Sims with money and help the household gain wealth. Greed can be fun, but it can also haunt your Sim.

Stroke of Genius
Accelerate your Sims' skill gain like their cooking, logic or athleticism.

Miracle Fix
Break your favorite shower or just want a clean house with the snap of a finger? This power will fix that right up for you and more.

The Bad

Cosmic Curse
Cast instant doom upon any Sim. This curse depletes all of the target Sims' needs.

video 3

Quake Maker
Terrify Sims with an earthquake, breaking objects and creating trash.

Epic Fail
Any Sims' worst nightmare; curse any Sim with clumsy fingers and watch chaos ensue. It might be best to cast it in their house and not yours. Make Sims fight, have gas, get demoted or fired, break things, cause fires, and more.

video 4

Fire Storm
Drop fireballs onto a location to cause destruction and mayhem.

Poltergeist
Make ghosts appear to haunt Sims.

What do you think of these Karma Powers? Will you use them to help or hurt your Sims? How cool is the idea of bringing around a ghost? Let us know in the comments below.
